On June 16, 2004, Janet and Darrell purchased the Joseph Lawrence House B&B from Barbara and Patrick Kelly who had begun renovations in 1999 in order to prepare it as a Bed & Breakfast venue.

Janet and Darrell welcomed their first guests on June 25, 2004. Since then, they have completed extensive restoration and renovations for the comfort of their guests. They have also added vintage lighting and furnishings throughout so that their guests can experience the relaxing elegance and charm of an early Victorian home from the first days of prosperity in old Collingwood.

Janet & Darrell Reeder In 2004, Janet retired from Sears Canada as Coordinator of Human Resources in Barrie, Ontario. She is a skilled and imaginative planner and coordinator of special events. In 1999, Darrell returned to Ontario after having lived in Massachusetts for 34 years. He recently retired from a varied career in clinical psychology, professional and clinical supervision, formal academic teaching, and healthcare administration.

Janet and Darrell enjoy their involvement in communitiy activities. Both are members of the Collingwood Chapter of the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario. Janet is  currently President of the Collingwood Horticultural Society. Darrell recently retired as President of the Georgian Triangle Tourist Association and Chair of the Board of Directors. He is also vice-Chair of the Heritage Advisory Committee of the Town of Collingwood. Previously, he completed a term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Ontario Bed and Breakfast Accommodation.

Janet and Darrell enjoy transferring their interest and experience in nurturing people in their previous careers to their retirement activites as co-hosts of the Joseph Lawrence House B&B. Now they enjoy the daily challenges of property management and maintenance, gardening, landscaping, preparing breakfast, and providing enjoyment and hospitality for their many guests who reciprocally warmly enrich them in many ways.
